WordPress.com Golden Ticket Giveaway!

Sep 23, 2005 in

WordPress.com
I’ve recently acquired a WordPress.com “Golden Ticket.” WordPress.com is, to the best of my knowledge, the first free WordPress powered blogging solution. It is currently only a beta, open to a small number of users, but it is a great way to start blogging with the great WordPress software.

Rules & Directions:
I will give out my one invite to anyone I do not know personally that replies to this post with their proposition as to what they will do with it and what kind of blog they want to set up. The best reply gets the golden ticket! This giveaway ends Sunday, the 25th of September at midnight Eastern time. If there are no responses or no worthy replies, I will either extend the giveaway or put the Golden Ticket on eBay. The only thing I must ask of the winner is to link to this website on the blogroll.

WordPress.com is an easy and powerful way to start blogging.
Why Blog?

* Connect with an audience of dozens to millions.
* Stop sending mass emails to everyone.
* Archive your thoughts.
* Why the heck not?

EDIT: I am now aware that every WordPress.com invite gives that person one invite. So if everyone is willing to cooperate, I would be able to give everyone that replies a golden ticket. For example, I would send the invite to one person, who would set up an account, then send their one invite to the email address of the next person, which I provide to them.

Comment moderation is in use! If your post does not appear it is because I have not approved it yet. Don’t worry if it doesn’t show up by the deadline, WordPress tells me what time you posted the comment.

  1. Hi!

I’m seeking to set-up a more professional blog with right software and it seems that Golden Ticket is a best way to go. To get the feeling of what things I usually post please click on my name to see my current blog.

My address is “ashuvalov” at yahoo.

    Thanks!
    Andrew

  2. I would love to use this for my Neighborhood association’s website. It would make it easier to keep things up to date and help keep the people of my neighborhood better informed and involved in the community. I have been looking at getting a program such as this looks like just the “Golden” ticket that I was looking for. Thank you for your concideration.

  3. I would be delighted to receive a WordPress Golden ticket.
I began blogging with WordPress so I could learn the basics of PHP. I looked at several other CMS and Blog operations out there but none compared to WordPress.
My current blog is a hodge podge of topics but with the Invite site I would narrow it down to the subject of learning PHP and other scripting languages on-line.
I believe there is not a better open-source application than WordPress to produce such a blog.

    Thank you,
    Angalee Presley

  6. Hi Paul,

I am the founder and admin of a fairly successful People Portraits Group (over 880 members and rather high quality photos) at Flickr and I have been musing for a while to create a group blog for it.

My idea is that a blog could foster and deepen at a group level the community-spirit that Flickr is very much. For this kind of blog a hosted solution would be preferred, and I have considered Blogger and Blogsome, but I would really prefer to help market WordPress.com by sending my traffic there.

You can view the People Portraits Group here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/people/

I got experience with WordPress, and also with Blogger and Textpattern.

Of course, there will be a link to your great site, Paul. Glad I found it! And I will fully cooperate, as you suggest, and give an invitation to WordPress.com to the next person.

    Thank you för your consideration.

    Best regards from Malmö, Sweden,

  7. I’m a recently graduated student who has been spending the last few months learning to design websites using various CMSs in particular Wordpress. I’ve actually been working on several websites using wordpress but have yet to publish any of them cause I’m pretty broke and can’t afford hosting.
I’m actually unemployed right now…bummer :( so I think I’d use the ticket to publish my portfolio online so that I could attract some potential employers or drum up some freelance web design work. I’d be really excited to win the “golden ticket” because I could finally have my own website after spending the last year learning to build them.
    Thanks for your consideration.

  8. Thanks for participating in the giveaway. I am currently reviewing everyone’s submission and I will contact the winner shortly.

  9. Thanks for the opportunity Paul! Good luck to everyone!

  10. I’m really interested in getting an invitation for WordPress.com — because i think it could be THE next big think after flickr — but hey, we will see.

  11. Sorry Yoram, the contest has ended.

  12. Well I’m up! Passed on the ticket to Leigh, hope she gets it promptly. Thanks so much for your kindness. I’m looking forward to having a blog, I think it will be a great thing.

  13. Terrific Blog you have. Peace Out.
